Strong women as a common sense – presentation of the Serbian team for the WMF WWC 2021

Interesting new information is coming from Ms. Tamara Perlinac, as a correspondent, and Mr. Dejan Boromisa, as the President of the Serbian Association of Minifootball, that spoke in the name of the Serbian team. They provided quite amusing answers to the questions asked, and we are looking forward to see how this team will perform in Kyiv.

Are you prepared for the World Cup you are partaking in?

“Oh yes, we are! We are very happy and excited about this World Cup, glad we got a chance to take part in this event and to promote Serbian minifootball. We are in the preparation phase, we train hard physically and preparing mentally also. We can’t wait for that 12th of August, and I think we will have a really good team and form till that date!”, Tamara shared.

Dejan added: “We were not only preparing for this event but to make sure we are always ready as we plan to take part in many other competitions nationally and internationally. Our strategy is to develop gradually, to increase all our strengths and make a team powerful.”

What are the best sides and strengths of your team, and what are the points that need improvement?

“Oh, I don’t know if I should talk about weaknesses (laughing). Just kidding, of course. I think one of the advantages of our team is that we have young players as well as experienced ones, so that’s the perfect combination, younger players can learn a lot from us with more experience. Also, minifootball in Serbia is on the amateur level and for a lot of us this is the first time playing in such a big competition, so we have additional motivation to show how Serbia is talented and which quality it possesses in women soccer, so maybe we can raise awareness among the people of the state about it. I think that motivation can really give us a lot of strength. We are very good at attacking and finishing. Points that need improvement, think it’s maybe defense and speed, but we have enough time to improve our weakness.“ – Tamara exclaimed.

Has the situation with COVID-19 influenced your work and the way you do minifootball?

Dejan said: “It was tough, but we couldn’t stop!”

Tamara wanted to explain: “I think the situation with COVID-19 influenced the whole world and 90% of everyone’s work, unfortunately. I would lie if I said that it didn’t affect our work and training. During the quarantine, we stayed home and sports centers were closed, so we weren’t able to train together and play minifootball as usual, but we were training at home, alone, with weights and doing some strength training. We went to the field when we were able, for some running and ball training, and the first time when we were able to get back together on the pitch, we did it. We were really trying to keep fit, to control and restrict COVID-19 pandemic influence on us, and we succeeded.”

What are your expectations from the World Cup you are partaking in?

Tamara started: “Well, of course, as in every competition, we will give our best to make the best possible result. Our goal is to get as far as possible with the competition and try to win some medals. Also, we want to show very good play, to show the world our quality, strengths and to promote minifootball and WMF around the world and our country. We want to give a good example and support to little girls who want to start or just started playing any kind of football. And the last one, we expect a great experience for all of us and a great journey, we are going to visit Ukraine for the first time! Go, go, go wild dancers!”

Dejan continued: “I expect to have an excellently organized event and well-prepared teams. We are bringing our best and we expect to make the best out of it. This is a unique opportunity not only for us but in the situation where we had more than a year of blockage – for the whole world of minifootball. We will enjoy the ride and of course – celebrate each success we might have. We appreciate the will and efforts of the organizers and we thank WMF for persistence in improving the conditions for minifootball to thrive.”

Would you like to share anything else?

“I just wanna say that we are grateful and thankful for the opportunity to participate in this World Cup.” – both pointed out.

And we are grateful for your contribution and wish you the best of luck! Go, go, go Serbian players!
