Singapore: World Cup as a platform to jumpstart
This is Singapore’s first year, and they begin wisely: “Our biggest opponents this year will be ourselves and we want to push ourselves as far as we can. Since it is our first year, it is more of a stepping stone for the future of Minifootball in Singapore. We are privileged to be a part of World Cup 2019 and are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to pit our skills against the best in the world.”
Their team will consist of 14 players, a head coach, assistant coach, physiotherapist, team manager, and equipment manager. Aside, their Association President, Vice president will also be present at the World Cup along with their Technical Director, Referees Chairman and Vice-Chairman and 2 members of their IT team.
As Minifootball is at its very start of development in Singapore, they see the opportunity to utilize this year’s World Cup as a platform to jumpstart the awareness and development of the sport in their country.
They believe that the Czech Republic, as the defending champions of both the World Cup and European Championship stand great chance to become a champion again.
They would like to avoid Brazil in a knock-out phase, and as nicely said: “It would be a dream to play Australia in the final in front of their home crowd. It would garner great support and have an electrifying atmosphere.”
