First day of WMF World Cup U23 introduced the hype of the days to come
With not much time left to comment on the daily happenings, we managed to catch and convey the official word from the President of WMF Mr. Filip Juda: “Imagine how excited I am to realize that we were right to believe that it was possible to organize two major events at the same time and to be harmonized in implementation of the awaited plan to give people minifootball back and to let everyone enjoy this sport again. I express my gratitude to the organizers, to the WMF executives, to supporters and city authorities of Kyiv, to managers of federations and associations, to players, to fans… To see activities in the playing fields again gives me new initiative and strength to go on, to make more impact and develop minifootball further as the sport for all. I do not have favorites among the teams, but I must say that we all together won and that our courage deserves the trophy.”
Support invigorates, and today’s winner knows that pretty well.
Colombia in their opening game score 17 goals against India. They exhibited excellent performance and showed they manage field space well. The best in their team was Bryan Arzuaga with 5 goals and Lorenzo Vallejo with 4 goals. On the other side, India was more focused on defense.
The Czech Republic won over Georgia, with much more effort than expected. We were witnessing a very dynamic match with an uncertain result, which came clear in the last moments when the Czech team made their 3rd point. So, the final result was 3:1. World Cup U23 goes on until we see who the winners of the first day definitely are.
It was a fantastic match between Egypt and Slovakia, that was ended as it was most just, with the result 3:3. The excellent first half for Egypt brought a high advantage for this team with 3:0. But Slovakia resisted, backfired with pressure, and managed to equalize the result just before the very end.
Ukraine and Moldova were finishing Day 1, just before the dark. In front of the most spirited crowd of the day, host Ukraine experienced a tough 3:1 loss to Moldova in their opening game of the 2021 WMF U23 World Cup. Stan Marin scored all three goals for Moldova, assisted twice by Adam Daniel. Olekseii Koval scored the lone tally for Ukraine, who nonetheless pushed Moldova till the end.
