WMF Executive Committee Adopts Rule Change to Improve the Game
The World Minifootball Federation Executive Committee has approved a modification to the Rules of the Game, following a proposal submitted by the WMF Referee Committee.
According to Mr Cristian Lupu, Chairman of the WMF Referee Committee, the decision is part of the continuous effort to modernize and refine the sport. Lupu explained that the update aims to make the game more fluid and fast-paced and to provide clearer guidance for both referees and players.
“This modification was introduced to ensure that the game continues to evolve in line with modern standards. Our goal is to make minifootball more exciting, transparent, and easier to interpret for referees, players, and spectators alike. Every change we make is based on analysis and experience gathered from international competitions, with the clear objective of raising the overall quality of the game,” Lupu said.
Additionally, to further enhance its expertise in modern technology, the Referee Committee appointed Mr. Lucian Rusandu, a recognized VAR expert and a strong advocate for technological integration, as Collaborator of the WMF Referee Committee.
Mr. Lucian Rusandu expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the global development of refereeing:
“I am glad to receive this opportunity to work for the WMF. The development of video refereeing is an essential part of the advancement of modern refereeing. I wish to contribute, through the experience I have gained over time, to the global development of video refereeing,” he said.
With this comprehensive strategy—refining the rulebook and integrating top VAR expertise—the WMF has clearly demonstrated its intent to lead the sport’s evolution, establishing new standards for minifootball on the global stage.
